Abstract

A pair of highly fluorescent chemosensors have been synthesized based on Norbornene derivative which is biodegradable and biocompatible. The advantages of being Polymeric sensor over a monomeric sensor is that they have good solubility, better response time and a great detection limit. Chapter 1 briefly introduces about Macromolecules and chemosensors. Chapter 2 has synthesis, characterization and results of Compound4. ESIPT (Excited state intramolecular proton transfer) takes place due to which fluorescence is observed when reacted with H₂S. The sensor monomer after reacting with H2S shows green fluorescence which leads to the reformation of the precursing molecule. Chapter 3 briefs us about the synthesis, and characterization of POLY-NHY. It was synthesized by ROMP by 2nd Generation Grubbs’ catalyst. Both monomer(NHY) and polymer are effectively able to detect Hydrazine in solution and are confirmed by various selective studies. The molecules synthesized were characterized by ¹H NMR spectroscopy.
