Abstract

The main aim of the project was to conduct a study of quantum teleportation and quantum cryptography. In this regard, first a literature study of teleportation was carried out. SPDC (spontaneous parametric downconversion) is discussed next as it is a very important process in quantum optics for the generation of single photons and entangled pairs of photons and is a key ingredient in many quantum optics experiments, including those for applications in teleportation of photonic states and quantum cryptography (with photons for qubits). The report then moves on to analyzing various quantum key distribution protocols, some entanglement based and some not, before implementing different circuits for the different protocols on the IBM Quantum Computer.
