Abstract

In this report, we will give a brief introduction to the Capture-Recapture method, which is used in population estimation, and Bayesian statistics. We will see the implications of Bayesian analysis on a 2-sample Capture-Recapture model. Our focus will be to illustrate the sensitivity of the population estimate on the choice of prior distribution and loss function. A detailed discussion on the fluctuation in estimates of the fish population for a set of Non-Informative priors and loss functions is also presented. Finally, we will calculate the respective posterior expected losses and observe the robustness of the estimates to conclude the choice of prior and loss function for our 2-sample Capture-Recapture study.
