Abstract

This thesis investigates the properties of WS₂ monolayers and their derivatives, specifically WS₂ monolayer on graphene heterostructures and niobium-doped WS₂ monolayers. The samples were grown using the chemical vapor deposition (CVD) technique, which has advantages such as being able to make larger wafer size samples. The research focuses on characterizing the Photoluminescence(PL) properties, temperature dependence of PL, polarization of PL emission and its relation to valley scattering behavior, of these CVD-grown WS₂ monolayers and their derivatives. Experimental analysis and theoretical modeling provide insights into the characteristics and potential applications of these materials. The findings contribute to the understanding of 2D materials for integrating them into future nanoelectronic and optoelectronic devices.
