Abstract

This thesis explores the properties of transition metal dichalcogenides (TMD) and light element-doped transition metal alloys under high pressure. Employing high-pressure synchrotron X-ray diffraction, micro-Raman spectroscopy, and resistivity measurements, the study investigates the pressure effects on the structural, vibrational, and electronic properties of these materials. A novel low-temperature, high-pressure resistivity measurement setup has been devised for the investigation of the electronic properties of TMDs under pressure. This thesis provides a detailed exploration of the critical method employed for the sample loading procedure.
