Abstract

Overblowing is the phenomenon which is used by wind instrument musicians to change the sound to ne via changing the pressure in air flow. We can also see this phenomenon in nature like bird can change the irvoices, and similar lyother animals. We study the phenomenon of overblowing in a systematic way by recording the sound from a uteatdierentconstant owrates.WeusenumericalFourieranalysistech- nique toanalyzethefrequencycontentoftherecordedsound.Weanalyzethepower spectrumoftherecordedsoundtostudyhowtheintensityandfrequencyofdierent tones of the sound change with flow rate. Further, we study how sound tone changes as the flow changes from laminar at low Reynolds number to turbulent at high Reynolds number.
