Abstract

In this project report, we study anomalies in gauge theories from the perspectives of non-invariance of path integral measure and divergent triangle diagram computation. In particular, we study anomalies under global transformations as well as gauge transformations. The presence of the chirality matrix g5 plays a seminal role in anomalies, as will be evident. However, it is difficult to implement dimensional regularization in presence of g5 which is a problem. At the end of this article, we try to address this issue and study a few schemes for formulating dimensional regularization in presence of g5 and use these schemes to see if they can reproduce the results for the anomaly under chiral transformations.
