Abstract

My research approach deals with the synthesis of Norbornane based different macromolecules and homo/block-copolymer with the aid of post-polymer modification so that there is scope to include different moieties. I prioritize Azido-Alkyne and Thiol-Ene chemistry in my synthesis scheme to accommodate PEG and other pharmacophoric motifs. In Chapter 1, we have done a vast literature survey on polymer materials and their self-assembly approach in respective fields. In Chapter 2, we have synthesized a block co-polymer and its self-assembly study in different organic solvents. As there is ample scope to explore both blocks towards post-polymer modification, there is a thorough demonstration of post-engineering in both polymer blocks. In Chapter 3, we synthesized Exo-Norpentaflurophenolate polymer, designed to undergo azido-alkyne post-polymer modification to attach mannose and furan motifs. Furthermore, we have gone through its self-assembly in aqueous medium and its response in presence of different enzymes. In Chapter 4, we have synthesized a system where the Norbornene-peptide system is attached with Polyethylene glycol through thiol-Ene click chemistry and also analyse its self-assembly pattern in aqueous medium through SEM, TEM and DLS.
