Abstract
This is a report on the study of the statistical physics of phase transition. The purpose of this study was to learn several aspects of critical phenomena and phase transition, and then apply that knowledge to study several systems which exhibit phase transition. This report starts with an introduction to phase transition, and we study general features of phase transition. Then we proceed to different techniques of solving the phase transition problem in equilibrium systems using statistical physics methods, like mean-field theory, Landau-Ginzburg theory and Renormalization.
