Abstract
A transition metal-free photoredox strategy for the efficient synthesis of difluoromethyl-substituted 1,2-benzothiazine dioxide derivatives has been developed. This method employs radical addition to alkenes followed by a cascade cyclization, affording the desired products in yields of up to 67%. Mechanistic studies revealed that the catalytic cycle is initiated by oxidative quenching of the organic photocatalyst 4DPAIPN. Importantly, the transformation proceeds under redox-neutral conditions, without the need for transition metals, stoichiometric oxidants, or external additives
