Abstract
In this project, I have studied the eects of the spin orbit interaction of light due to tight focusing in optical tweezers by developing a theoretical model to map the electric eld distribution near the focal plane of the trap. The numerical modelling was done on the MATLAB platform and the results were studied. The results could explain the experimental observations verifying the formation of high intensity lobes due to anisotropic linear diattenuation. This model works also for the input beams having topological charges and with any kind of polarization. The model is then used to investigate the spin orbit interactions and spin hall shifts in several stratied systems. The task further is to improve the model to include evanescent waves in the calculation which has so far been neglected. Another task would be to study the optical binding eects which can be done by introducing a mesoscopic particle and its scattering in the model.
