Abstract

The work presented in the thesis entitled “Benthic Foraminifera from the Marginal Marine Environments of North West Coast of Bay of Bengal” has been carried out at Indian Institute of Science Education Research Kolkata (IISER Kolkata). The thesis has been broadly divided into the following sections as Introduction, Research Methodology, Results and Discussions, General Conclusions and Future Directions followed by a Bibliography of all cited texts. The ‘Thesis Introduction’ and ‘Research Methodology’ are elaborated in first two chapters. The major objectives based on the key questions of PhD research, the ‘Results and Discussions’ section has been further divided into four chapters: Chapter 3: Benthic foraminiferal diversity from from three major marginal marine environments situated in the North West coast of Bay of Bengal Chapter 4: Temporal variations in benthic foraminiferal diversity from a marginal marine environment situated in the North West coast of Bay of Bengal Chapter 5: Applicability of seasonally stable foraminifera as a proxy for prevailing environmental conditions in a marginal marine environment situated in the North West coast of Bay of Bengal Chapter 6: A multiproxy approach for Relative Sea Level rise utilizing foraminiferal diversity in a marginal marine environment situated in the North West coast of Bay of Bengal
