Abstract
This thesis deals with the design and synthesis of anthraquinone based donor (D)- acceptor (A) small molecules and polymers and their photoelectrochemical and photocatalytic application. In one part anthraquinone was polymerized with bichalcogenophene using Stille coupling to make a donor (D)-acceptor (A)-donor (D) and their photoelectrochemical performances was evaluated. The second part anthraquinone was polymerized with benzochalcogenadiazole using Stille coupling to make a donor (D)- acceptor1 (A1)-donor (D)-acceptor2 (A2) type polymers and their photoelectrochemical performances was evaluated. In the first part of chapter four deals with the Stille coupling polymerization of anthraquinone and diketopyrrolopyrrole to make a donor (D)- acceptor1 (A1)-donor (D)- acceptor2 (A2) and its resistive property was evaluated. The second part of the chapter, anthraquinone was polymerized with benzochalcogenadiazole using Stille coupling to make a donor (D)- acceptor1 (A1)-donor (D)-acceptor2 (A2) type polymers and their photoelectrochemical performances were evaluated. In the chapter five anthraquinone is fused with furan ring through an electrophillic iodocyclization and their ambipolar mobility values were evaluated. The last chapter deals with electrochemical polymerization of anthraquinone and triphenylamine based systems to make donor (D)-acceptor (A)-donor (D) types polymer and their ambipolar mobility values were evaluated.
