Abstract
Cancer represents a class of disease characterized by uncontrolled the division of abnormal cells that may invade other tissues. The term “chemotherapy” encompasses the chemicals to treat disease. The modern era of chemotherapy against cancer began with nitrogen mustards, the bioisoteric analogue of warfare agent sulfur mustard. Over the time the development of more effective chemotherapeutic agents has became a prime endeavor. This thesis work mainly involves towards the synthesis, characterization and cytotoxicity studies and investigation of probable pathways of actions of certain newly designed anticancer agents having either alkylation / cross linking capability or planar moieties to intercalate DNA.
