Abstract

This master thesis investigates the two-sided matching problem with multiple criteria in the marriage market. In the original problem each individual has one ordered preference list containing all the members of the other sex, however, in this thesis each individual has a separate ordered preference list for each criterion. The definitions of strong stability and weak stability are introduced together with their corresponding cores. Clearly, weak stability of a multi-criteria matching is guaranteed by Gale-Shapely algorithm but strong stability is not. The main aim of this thesis is to find out the domains where strong stability is allowed. Conditions on the preference profiles such that the boy-optimal or the girl-optimal matching yield strong stability, are provided.
