Abstract
We propose that as an alternative to using metamaterials for polarization dependent manipulation of light, spatial gradient of geometric phase can be generated by spatially tailoring the incident beam and only using materials with homogeneous anisotropy. In this thesis we start by exploring the geometric phase gradient of light when it passes through inhomogeneous anisotropic materials and observe the SOI effects resulting from this. Next, we use polarization tailored cylindrically symmetric beams incident on homogeneous isotropic/anisotropic media to observe rotational spin-hall effect of light. Finally, we use beams with cylindrical symmetry broken polarizations (generated with SLM) to observe angular shift in trajectory of the beam (and hence shift in beam centroid on the screen) for LCP/RCP projections.
