Abstract

A geological map of sub-Himalayan sequences exposed along road and river section in and around Kalakot, Mohgala, Metka, Triyath in Jammu was prepared to select a particular section suitable for logging. Then detailed lithologs of Subathu-Murree transition was prepared. The present work then studied the sedimentary structures and bedform geometry to interpret the depositional environment. It helped to prepare a sequence stratigraphic framework for the Subathu-Murree transition after identification of sequence stratigraphic surfaces and correlation the lithogs across the Jammu sub-Basin. Synthesis of field and sequence stratigraphic information was done to understand the status of the unconformity in Jammu sub-Basin and its relation to Cenozoic climate and Himalayan tectonics if any.
