Abstract

Nanocrystalline materials are promising as future technological material for applications like wavelength tunable laser, bio-imaging, solar cells etc. because of their better optical properties such as photostability etc. One way to make better optical properties is through doping. This dissertation focuses on the synthesis and photophysical study of Mn²⁺ doped CdS/CdZnS/ZnSquantum dots (QDs). As-prepared QDs were optically studied with absorption, PL (photoluminescence) emission and excitation spectroscopy, temperature dependent PL emission, temperature dependent time resolved PL decay experiment.Doping in the QD has been done by non-injection heating up method. The results are elaborated in the thesis.
