Abstract

This thesis “Guanosine Derivatives for the Selective G-quadruplex Recognition and Synthetic Ion Channel Formation” describes synthesis of mono- and di-guanosine derivatives using a modular synthetic approach using click chemistry. This thesis comprises two chapters. Chapter 1 describes design and synthesis of guanosine derivatives linked with fluorescent probes (dansyl and anthracene) using Click-Chemistry for the detection of G-quadruplex structures. Chapter 2 describes synthesis of diguanosine derivatives using Click-Chemistry which can self-assemble to form synthetic ion channels across a biological membrane.
