Abstract
In this dissertation, investigation of various properties of Soft-Oxometalates (SOMs), led to the discovery of light driven self-assembly resulting in the formation of molybdenum blue species. Exploration of the photochemical activity of the Soft-Oxometalate (SOM) led to the controlling of the chain length of polyacrylic acid via photomolymerization method, synthesis of 1,4-diphenyl-butan-1,4-dione from styrene, decarboxylative cross coupling of acrylic acid and iodobenzene, photochemical water oxidation and its enhancement by SOMs. This dissertation concludes with a focus on exploring future alternative energy resources. In that context photochemical CO2 reduction in water to synthesize C1 feed stock with a high yield is described.
