Abstract
Photocatalysis has emerged as an influential topic around the research arena in recent years as it provides solutions to two major problems the world currently faces, environmental and energy crisis respectively. Moreover, it is a field with wide range of applications such as mineralization of organic pollutants, water splitting, detoxification, disinfection, and organic synthesis. This thesis details about the synthesis and characterization of MgO-TiO₂ nanocomposite which shows enhanced efficiency towards removal of dyes compared to MgO and TiO₂. The nanocomposite was prepared using an autoclave method. This composite shows higher degradation of dyes like methyl orange. This enhanced activity is attributed on the basis of adsorption followed by degradation of dye which is supported by porous molecular framework.
