Abstract
Magnetically active nanocatalysts have been successfully prepared by a simple one-pot synthesis method. catalysts are well characterized by X-ray diffraction (XRD),transmission electron microscopy (TEM) and scanning electron microscopy (SEM). We prepared ruthenium magnetic nanoparticles(Fe₃O₄@SiO₂@Ru) and explored its application in the acceptorless dehydrogenative coupling reactions. The catalyst can be readily prepared in gram quantitites under closed atmosphere. The catalyst used in the synthesis of α,β-unsaturated compounds was effortlessly recovered from the reaction mixture by a simple and comfortable magnetic separation of products using an external magnet. In the second part of the research, we focused our goal in synthesizing such a heterogeneous photo catalyst which could be rescued once the reaction gets over and could be reutilized further with significant efficiency of the catalyst. For the aforementioned C-H functionalization of arenes and heteroarenes, we have used magnetic nanoparticles of Fe₃O₄, which satisfy the criteria of heterogeneous photocatalyst and could easily be excited by applying green LEDs and also could be recovered by applying simple magnetic separation way.
