Abstract

We developed simple electrochemical processes to access two different kinds of Nitrogencontaining molecules namely azo-compounds and highly substituted pyrazoles. Azo-compounds are obtained by the oxidation of aryl hydrazines using simple graphite/graphite electrode combination. The oxidation was well-tolerated by distinct functional groups like alkyl, methoxy, and halogens. Subsequently, easily available precursors like 1,3-diketones and sulfonyl hydrazides are converted into corresponding pyrazoles via radical annulations pathway. This annulation reaction was promoted by graphite/nickel foam electrode combination. Diverse 1,3- diketones examined the generality of the developed protocol with substituted sulfonyl hydrazides. Overall, we constructed useful organic moieties by employing an electrochemical method which is relatively cheap and less hazardous than the existing oxidative processes.
