Abstract

PT symmetric systems and Solitons --------------------------------- PT symmetric systems with complex potentials are very extensively studied. Supersymmetric quantum mechanics is applied to complex PT symmetric potentials to obtain their spectra. This thesis work reproduces an example to calculate the energy spectrum of PT symmetric potentials. The next section deals with the breather type solutions of non linear Schrodinger equation (NLSE). Mainly the Ma breather and Akhmediev breather solutions are considered. The solution in absence of the source is known and an attempt is made to solve for solutions in the presence of the source. ============== Null geodesics and QNMs of Kerr metric -------------------------------------- The objective of the thesis work is to study some of the aspects of geodesic equations and quasinormal modes. We mainly focus on the null geodesics and their relations with the scalar wave equations in the Kerr metric. The geometric interpretation of quasinormal modes has been extensively studied and in this thesis work we reproduce some of the known results with an attempt to approach the problem from another angle. As the next step we calculated the quasinormal modes of Kerr black hole using the continued fraction technique.
