Abstract

A tryptophan-based fluorescent polymeric probe was synthesized, targeting sensitive recognition of formaldehyde (FA) in aqueous media. Upon treatment with FA, the as synthesized polymeric probe imparted an enhancement of the fluorescence attributed to the Photoinduced Electron Transfer (PET) process. This probe has a detection sensitivity of 152 parts per billion (ppb) for FA in 100% aqueous environment.
