Abstract
The gravitational-wave signal detection from compact binary coalescences" has been studied using both template-bank searches as well as Particle Swarm Optimazation based aligned-spin search. The PSO algorithm using only the masses of the binary objects involved, detects more events than the template bank search. Improving this PSO based search by allowing some of the particles to move along the eigenvectors, increases the accuracy at the detection stage sbstantially. In order to illustrate the improvement, results using a variety of combinations of the number of particles and number of iterations have been presented for each of the algorithms. If we look at the results of mass obtained and the mass injected, the improved PSO algorithm estimate the higher masses better for most of the algorithms including Half Eigen and Half PSO, rotation and projection. iv
