Abstract

The present dissertation reports an endeavor to study the guest-host encounters between suitable bio-compatible hosts and pharmaceutically potent molecules through formation of inclusion complexes. Along with inclusion studies of indoloquinoline molecules in cyclodextrins (CDs) we have also shown that morphology of CD nanoaggregates can be controlled by the structure of the guest molecules and host size. In similar encounters pyrene based Schiff’s bases are observed to show excellent ability toward formation of strong hydrogen bonds with suitably sized gama-CD host to obtained extra stabilization in solution. We have also synthesized and studied guest-host dynamics in differently sized lipid vesicles. We showed that dynamics of double proton transfer in an appropriate guest molecule may be slowed down through a stepwise mechanism in lipidosomes. Research works described in this thesis have tried to find the mode and nature of interaction of some potentially biologically interesting fluorophores with biocompatible and biomimicking systems.
