Abstract

This thesis encompasses different out-of-equilibrium emergent properties of oxometalates, crystallization and autonomous motion, in particular. Here, we attempt to explore how time induces structural and state of matter features in oxometalates. The colloidal state of oxometalates is soft in nature and these soft-oxometalates (SOMs) can be rendered active using judicious choice of chemical or optical stimuli. In this thesis, we have fabricated different active SOMs and induced motion in them. In Chapter 3, we have studied temporal crystallization of {Mo7} SOMs and manifested its activity using chemical fuels like dithionite and hydrazine. In the next chapter, we have synthesized a hybrid (V/Mo) SOM with variable morphologies and monitored the effect of size and morphologies on its motion. Then, we switched from chemical to optical stimuli, fabricated a visible light driven SOM based nanomotor which can facilitate removal of organic pollutants from water. Next, we harnessed this motion to information transfer by design of an Operando Systems chemistry Algorithm (OSCAL) which controls the fabrication and motion of Active Matter. All these works have been accounted here which entails the essence of this thesis.
