Abstract

The present dissertation reports an endeavour to study the formation, morphology, and applications of cyclodextrin nanotubular suprastructures. This has been performed by studying the photo excited state phenomena of a TICT fluorophore impregnated inside cyclodextrin nanochannels. As an application of cyclodextrin nanoaggregates, the local opening of DNA double helix has also been investigated [1-5]. Studies have been performed by varying the experimental conditions and environments of the probe molecule by external agents and controlling parameters. The main tool of investigation was spectroscopy. The results have been rationalised by AFM and TEM experiments. Electronic spectroscopy coupled with microscopy proves to be an excellent tool to improvise vivid applications of these host-guest systems to drug delivery. The works, however, open up scope for further future research. These are being discussed briefly in the forthcoming paragraphs.
