Abstract
The present work, after illustrating a general introduction on the biological significance of carbohydrates, its use as therapeutics and the emergence of glycomics, undertakes the review of different techniques of glycosidic bond formation considering different types of donors and promoters as well as some special techniques developed for the stereoselective formation of glycosidic linkages. After that it describes the total syntheses of two trisaccharides related to Pithecellobium lucidim and the syntheses of trisaccharide related to Solanum lycocarpum, Salmonella enterica O59, Schima noronhae, Shigella boydii O17 and N-sulfonyl amides via multicomponent reaction.
