Abstract
N–heterocyclic carbenes are of greatest interest as ligand precursors in organometallic chemistry. So, considering these NHCs three bis-N heterocyclic carbene ligands are designed. Fluorenyl functionalised both methylene and ethylene linked bis-NHCs have been synthesised. Apart from that benzyl linked bis-NHC is synthesised. Most of the ligand precursors and complexes described here have been characterised by spectroscopic and diffraction methods. We have successfully synthesised and characterised methylene and ethylene linked bis fluorenyl N-heterocyclic carbene ligands. Apart from that a potentially monoanionic bidentate bis NHC ligand has been synthesised. Further work of metalation with this methylene linked bis fluorenyl NHC is currently going on in our labortary. We are looking forward to the bimetallic and lanthanide chemistry with these ligand systems.
