Abstract
Several variables facilitate fluvial deposition: A river carrying a heavy load will deposit more than a river carrying a modest load because the material for deposition is provided by the load. The Fluvial Deposits along the Ghaghara river basin is Alluvial Fan. When a river travels through steep mountainous terrain, it dumps sediment (gravel, sand, and silt) on the neighboring, lower-lying ground, forming alluvial fans. The sediments in alluvial fan deposits are usually coarse and moderately sorted and they are the most important geomorphic feature for preserving past climate and tectonic activity. So, samples were collected from the Ghaghara River area from the right and left bank. These samples were studied to check the feasibility of OSL dating technique and along with that an attempt was made to relate the data with the paleoclimate. It was found that at a certain depth there was heavy monsoon which led to heavy deposition and at certain depth there were presence of nodules which means it was formed during climate transition i.e. from a wetter climate to a drier one. 5
