Abstract
This thesis entitled “SYNTHESIS AND APPLICATION OF p-TERPHENYL-4-CARBOXYLIC ACID PROTECTED PEPTIDES” discusses the synthesis, characterization, spectroscopic studies, cation binding ability of p-terphenyl-4-carboxylic acid and synthesis, characterization, morphology, spectroscopic studies and applications of the synthesized dipeptide. In the 3rd chapter, cation binding ability of p-terphenyl-4-carboxylic acid has been reported. We saw that the compound can sense Pb⁺² DMSO-Water solution. In the 4th chapter, gelation property of p-terphenyl-4-carboxylic acid capped leucin-phenyl alanine has been reported. Gelation was observed in different organic solvents. The storage modulus of the gel was approximately an order of magnitude larger than the loss modulus, which indicates the elastic nature of the gel and the physical crosslink. The gel exhibits an entangled fibrous network morphology, which is stabilized by weak non-covalent interactions such as hydrogen bonding, metal-coordination and π–π interactions. The gels also could observe dyes from aqueous solution.
