Abstract
The principal aim of this thesis is to understand various classical theorems of Lie groups and Lie algebras. This thesis is a collection of essays on the Cartan’s theorem of maximal tori, Bott periodicity theorem for unitary and orthogonal groups, and classification of three dimensional Lie group algebras. viii
