Abstract
Quantum simulation is helpful in studying systems that are otherwise not approachable through direct experiments. It is important to minimise the errors surfacing in such a technique in order to simulate the system of interest with more vigor and accuracy. A particular quantum simulation protocol proposed in D. Ballester et al. Phys. Rev. X 2, 021007 (2012) is studied and the possible errors in its implementation arising from the second order terms of a quantum master equation (frQME) are estimated. In an intermediate time-scale when the system-bath coupling on an interacting spin chain is too slow to influence its relaxation, the system is expected to attain a quasi-steady state. The possibility of a “thermalization” in this quasi-steady state for chains with two and three spins is studied using frQME.
