Abstract
The main aims of this thesis are (1) to develop small amino acids based novel peptides, (2) to study the structure of peptides into different supramolecualr architecture by noncovalent interactions such as hydrogen bonding interaction, hydrophobic interaction, π-π stacking interaction, (3) to study the structural transition of the foldamers (4) to develop a conjugate catalyst using designer peptides for C-C bond formation. The results summarized in this thesis established that self-assembling short peptides with coded and non-coded amino acids form different supramolecular structures like supramolecular double helices or supramolecular sheet like structure through various noncovalent interactions including intermolecular hydrogen bonding interaction. Another interesting result of this thesis includes the formation of reusable Pd embedded Fe₃O₄ nanoparticles for Suzuki-Miyaura cross-coupling reaction. Three novel observations of this thesis are: (1) Structural transformation of by N-terminus modification; (2) the evolution of diverse helices from synthetic peptides; (3) reusable peptide stabilized Pd embedded Fe₃O₄ nanoparticles for Suzuki-Miyaura cross-coupling reaction.
