Abstract

As the name suggests, this project deals with creating a ranking systems for various cases. The first case discussed in the project is when two teams or individuals play against each other at a time, as in case of cricket, football etc. The initial ranking system is improved by incorporating ties and home advantage factor into the model. We have then tested the performance of the model on ICC test matches data. The second case discussed is when three or more teams or individuals compete against each other at a time, as in case of Formula 1 racing. This model can be applied to rank the candidates in an interview. To rank the teams in the first case, Bradley-Terry Model is used. The same model is generalized to rank the teams in second case.
