Abstract
Visual stimuli gets processed in the occipital lobe of the human brain. A level of categorisation has been observed here. Certain groups of images or shapes get processed at specific distinct locations in the cortex. For example, it has been studied that faces get processed at a different location as compared to stationary inanimate objects such as houses. My project is aimed at investigating this aspect of visual stimuli processing at the level of simpler objects with subtle differences. The specific aim of my project is to evaluate the difference of location (if any) at which some contrasting groups of visual stimuli get mapped to. The first pair evaluated is the group of smooth curves (circles, ellipses) versus sharp edged images (squares, pentagons and triangles). The second pair evaluated is the group of semantically known words versus unknown letter jumbles displayed on the presentation software.
