Abstract
The existence of gravitational waves is one of the most intriguing predictions of the General Theory of Relativity and it is going to bring in a new era of discoveries, that will let us know more about our universe than anything before. Before we harness the power of gravitational waves, we need to detect them first and study them properly. My thesis includes learning the basics of gravitational waves, how they interact with matter, signal detection theory, modelling gravitational waves sources and designing detection techniques and algorithms to identify gravitational wave sources and extract vital information from them accurately.
