Abstract

Electron - molecule collisions can result in rotational excitation, vibrational excitation, dissociation and dissociative attachment or recombination. Of particular interest is the process of Dissociative Electron Attachment(DEA). We employ a method known as R-Matrix method to study this. The method is used to describe scattering states resulting from the interaction of particles or systems of particles. In our case, it is an electron collision process with a molecule. It is used to com- paratively study two similar molecules, H₂O and Cl₂O. The various aspects of DEA to the individual molecules are studied along with the theoretical and basic computational background required for the implementation of R-Matrix theory.
