Abstract

Visual search process is one of the most fascinating research areas today. Especially a target search task depends on many factor like the location of the target, its visibility, moreover the visual search is quite subjective. However one factor which is observed in most of the real world situations is the presence of context. In a real world problem a target is contextually rich. For example looking for a shop while walking on the road, one always happens to look along the road side not in the sky. Thus it is quite intuitive that the presence of contextual information facilitates the target search in a natural scene. Even after being such an important factor in visual search, little is known about the neural basis of context guided visual search. Though a number of studies have investigated the role of different brain regions responsible for encoding the scene information and objects. Especially the different encoding of object versus face has been the focus of many studies. However not much work has been done to investigate the neural basis of the whole process. The role of lateral occipital area (LOC) in predicting the location of target is one of the most recent studies in this field.
