Abstract
In this thesis we have studied the quantum dynamics of a point particle within the framework of Einstein’s General Theory of Relativity in 2+1 dimensions. It is known that the point particle in 2+1 dimensions causes a deficit angle proportional to its mass. This deficit angle is carried along as the particle moves with a given momentum. It is known that such type of momentum behaves as an angle, which is a compact variable. Further we have studied the energy eigenvalue problem of the given system using standard Schroedinger Quantum Mechanics and also Polymer Quantization, a quantization method in Loop Quantum Gravity. Finally we discuss the possible implication of the polymer quantization of the given system.
