Abstract
In this study we estimated shear velocity crustal structure beneath the Western Dharwar Craton (WDC) using joint inversion of receiver function and surface wave data. We also investigated the correlation between the crustal thickness with elevation and the composition that has been compared to get an idea of the crustal constituents. Data from 20 stations has been investigated and the significant Moho depth variations are observed in the study area, which ~38km in North of WDC,~48km south of WDC and ~42km in SGT. k(Vp/Vs) ratio 1.70-1.82 in Western Ghat and WDC. The correlation of Vp/Vs with H, surface elevation with H and Vp/Vs with surface elevation has been obtained to get a clearer picture of the study area. Correlation between Moho v/s elevation, in which, central of the WDC is showing negative correlation, south and North part of the WDC are showing positive correlation but Western Ghat is not showing any correlation. Correlation between Moho v/s k(Vp/Vs), in which, North and south part of the WDC are showing negative correlation. Correlation between k(Vp/Vs) v/s elevation, in which, Western Ghat is showing negative correlation, North of WDC is showing positive correlation and south of WDC is showing negative correlation.
