Abstract
This thesis mainly deals with two broad categories of metal-ligand complexes and their utilization: (a) paramagnetic polynuclear transition metal and mononuclear lanthanide metal complexes with ‘redox innocent’ ligands towards magnetochemical, magnetocaloric and photophysical analysis, (b) transition metal complexes with ‘redox noninnocent’ ligands towards better understanding of electronic structures and their applicability in different catalytic or chemical transformation reactions namely C-C bond formation, C-Br bond formation, oxidation of primary alcohol, oxygen activation coupled with catechol oxidation, amine oxidation and oxygenase activity.
