Abstract
A series of unique polymersomes from amphiphilic norbornene derived thiobarbiturate homopolymers (NTBH) has been synthesized. The complete series of homopolymers NTBH a-e with increase in chain extension has been synthesized and its applications as nano-carrier for cancer therapy has been discussed elaborately. The attempt to synthesize another series of homopolymer NTB a-e has been discussed. All the monomers were characterized using ¹H NMR, ¹³C NMR, FT-IR spectroscopy, mass spectroscopy etc. All the polymers were characterized using ¹H NMR and Gel permeation chromatography. Various experiments like structural characterizations using DLS, SEM and TEM has been discussed. To find the reservoir capabilities, drug encapsulation and release studies has been done. Stability of the polymers in physiological conditions has also been discussed. All the results demonstrate that the self-assembled NTBH a-e have great scope in the world of medicine and they also symbolize promising carriers for the stimuli-triggered intracellular delivery of hydrophobic drugs.
