Abstract

In this thesis work I have synthesized the Norbornene derived cobalt homopolymer using cobalt carbonyl. Homopolymerization with different molecular weights has been done using Grubbs G-3 catalyst and its characterization has been done using NMR and GPC technique. This homopolymer is superparamagnetic in nature. As this homopolymer is containing metal , so we further investigated the metal assisted self assembly of the polymer in THF:MeOH solvent system. The self assembly has been investigated by using DLS and SEM analysis. As this particular homopolymer is magnetic in nature so in future this material will be fine tuned for biological application which is will be expected to act as an MRI agent.
