Abstract
The accretion, during orogeny, of juvenile material to continental crust along continental or island arcs at cratonic margins is considered responsible for most Paleoproterozoic crustal growth of regions, with seaward migration of subduction zones during prolonged processes and evolution of regional scale magmatic and metamorphic belts. In contrast to Andean style orogenesis involving termination by continental collision, Cordilleran-style occurs by subduction of the oceanic crust in a Pacific-type tectonic setting. The present work provides a new insight into accretionary orogenic processes at craton margins and the growth of juvenile crust in the Paleoproterozoic.
