Abstract

A simple and efficient approach to synthesise cyclometalated homo and hetero-trinuclear complexes of Ir(III) and Re(I) have been done following the procedure reported in 1882 for arylimidazole synthesis. Diketone and aldehyde appended metal complexes have been chosen as the building blocks for the synthesis of complexes 1 - 4. The complexes have been characterized analytically and photophysical studies reveal they are emissive in nature with quite high phosphorescent lifetime.
