Abstract
The ratio of the shear viscosity to the entropy density is calculated for nonextremal and extremal Gauss-Bonnet (GB) black holes minimally coupled to arbitrary matter fields in 5 dimensions. Then the result have been applied to calculate the same in the particular case of black hole coupled to Born-Infeld (BI) electrodynamics. In the non-extremal case, the result is found to get corrections from the BI parameter and is analytically exact upto all orders in this parameter. The computations for non-extremal black hole are then extended to D dimensions. For extremal case, the ratio remain same as the universal value of 1/4π.
