Abstract
The work that I have presented here has huge interest/application in cancer therapeutics based on polymer drug delivery. Five functional monomers which includes three norbornene based monomers and two lactone based monomers were synthesized, each having distinct functions. Monomers were incorporated with distinct functional groups that render distinct functions to the polymer. In the case of norbornene based monomers, Chlorambucil (Chl), folic acid, PEG and methyl orange functionalized norbornene backbone. The polymer obtained after polymerization of the norbornene monomers is expected to show biocompatibility, targeted drug delivery and sustained release of the anticancer drug molecules attached with polymer backbone. Lactone based monomers show very high biodegradability and biocompatibility and hence the polymers are very good candidates as potential drug delivery vehicles. These polymeric assemblies can be used for delivering anticancer drugs to targeted tissues and hence used in cancer therapeutics.
